About
Rosie Clark is an artist living and working in Bath.
Rosie’s interest in art and design began during her time working for Herman Miller. After eleven years with the company, she returned to student life for four years gaining a BTEC Higher National Diploma in 3D design. It was during this time that watercolour became the medium used for expressing ideas, and regular visits to galleries instigated her love of art.
For many years after this, she attended weekly classes in life painting at Bath College using a range of media; however, watercolour remained paramount.
In more recent years, life drawing classes with Saied Dai and Charlotte Sorapure have developed drawing skills further and given a much deeper insight into art history and what constitutes great art.
Rosie has since exhibited her work on many occasions at Mall Galleries in London both with New English Art Club and the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours. In addition, her work has been selected numerous times for the Bath Society of Artists’ Annual Open Exhibition at Victoria Gallery, Bath.
In her current practice, Rosie’s work typically begins with something seen in everyday life. This might be a pattern of rooftops or a play of light on stonework. From a seemingly ordinary scene, an abstract underlying composition can be developed, with the aim of encapsulating the initial impression that captured Rosie’s attention.
